The story of the EA8/G8BCG - W7GJ QSO and some Screen Grabs:

On Friday 24th I did a test with Mick W1JJ from 15deg to zero - with only very poor copy from him - disappointing:-(

On Saturday 25th Lance started TXing at his moonrise and bang, at 1944 with my moon at 22.5deg there he was a solid -25dB.

He then disappeared for a full 10 minutes but came back in at 1954 with a big signal.

At 2001 with W7GJ hitting -22 here and in every over, Lance copied my "W7GJ EA8/G8BCG OOO" and came back with a thumping -19 RO

big sig!

It was a further 24 minutes with Lance thumping in with ROs every over before at a peak of -17 he finally heard my 100w again and came back with RRR to complete the QSO.

A further 10 minutes of Faraday before Lance's final comment "mni TNX 109;-)"

MNi TNX to you Lance for the encouragement and contageous enthusiasm!

I don't expect to be working too many more stations off the moon with only 100w - but it proves it can be done. AND, I believe that I will have a better signal with the moon in more northerly declinations as I have a clear unobstructed sea take off from about 275degrees - watch this space. Of course the 6M7JHV will come in handy for TEP;-)
