24th Band really buzzing to S America with afternoon and evening TEP -
with some luck folks in the Olive Belt getting LP QSOs to ZL, 3D2 etc.
Goofdskew paths around QTF 230 to Carib and Central America.
QTF 90deg skew path to Asia / Pac not yet booted up:-(
Country count 52.
31st What looked like an early April Fools joke turned out to be real as
DP0GVN in Antarctica was worked by the lucky few in EU from around 1200z
Apr
 1st
Everyone expects a joker. Well, at virtually the same time as yesterday,
11:50z, the chaos started, with seemingly all of Europe being heard by
and calling DP0GVN the club station located at the German Antarctic
Research Station "Neumayer III" in Antarctica.. Confirmation came
quickly that it was real and the station in Antarctica was using an
Icom-7300 to 250m of EcoFlex 15 and a wideband dipole!
Here he peaked at +5 for a good few minutes but G8BCG never made it into
the log - not my lucky day but for some a very happy day! The image
shows signals heard in Antarctica from 12:00 to 14:00z.
2nd
Condx seemed poor - no S Africa and a quiet band. As the magic time
approached I was out at my weekly lunch with Callington Radio Society -
but I took my Ipad for remote. At 12:28z on a dead band DP0GVN appeared
on FT8 at +19 !!. Within 2 minutes he was in the log for a
new terrestrial DXCC, new Field #147 and new
square # 1500. He remained copyable for over 2 1/2 hours. MAGIC
BAND!
May - as the Es season kicks
in I will not be reporting fully here - just highlights
A fair amount of Es and some good F2 taking my
50MHz annual tally to 78.
24/05/2025 QO-100 Satellite DXCC #162 VU7 (Lakshadweep Is.) SSB and FT8
25/05/2025 QO-100 Satellite DXCC #163 UK/R9LR (Uzbekistan) FT8 and FT4
(200mW!)
29th Delighted to work Bob E6RS on Niue this morning on 50MHz EME Q65.
AND THEN: still beaming at my moonrise I called CQ on FT8 and got 2
spots from VK3!!

June- I will not be reporting
fully for June - too much info! - just highlights
1st Nice start to the month - my

21st - good W Coast opening and late night OX3LX for new square #
1518
22nd - 06:30 FK8HA worked GW4FRX and G3WCS on direct path FT8 20deg from

here at the time:-) August
16th
What an amazing day! Hosted the Callington and District Amateur Radio
Society summer BBQ in my field with “DX” visitors György Szabadkay HA5WA
( George) and his xyl on holiday in Cornwall. Demonstrated 50MHz EME “
moon bounce” by contacting Lance Collister
H40GJ in Temotu Province, Solomon Islands, Southwest Pacific DXCC#274.
ALL AT ONCE! Great weather, great company, great food and a trip to the
moon and back
